Ingpen, Roger. William Thomas Horton, A Selection of His Work With a Biographical Sketch.

London (no date, circa 1920) Ingpen & Grant. 9 1/2 inch tall, paper over boards with cloth spine, paper spine label. 21 page biographical sketch followed by 68 of Horton's drawings (drawing 2, drawing 3) Published after Horton's death in 1919. Friend of Yeats and influenced by Beardsley and Blake, Horton originally trained as an architect, but abandoned that field early in life. His work is not widely known, and largely unpublished. 

End pages foxed. A little cover wear and corner bumping. Otherwise tight in a worn and age toned dust jacket. #4271    $100

Bookplate of Stephen Coleridge with inscription to Coleridge from Winifred Knatchbull-Hugessen dated Christmas 1899, and a four line poem signed S.C. and dated 1925 on front endpaper. Poem reads: "She is dead and gone, She is dead and gone, at her head a grass - green turf, at her heels a stone."  Includes a List of Works and a general index. The book interweaves "a simple account of the painter's life with a detailed chronological record of his artistic work."         Backstrip split at upper hinge and frayed at top.
